GIRLS' GENERATION PROFILE
Girls' Generation or people also known as SNSD in Korean name So Nyeo Shi Dae (소녀시대) is South Korea girl group. Their Chinese name Shao Nü Shi Dai and Japanese name ShōJo JiDai. Girls' Generation is girl group from SM Entertainment, one of the largest entertainment companies in Asia. Girls' Generation members consisting of leader Taeyeon, Sooyoung, Yoona, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, and maknae Seohyun. The members were professionally trained primarily in singing and dancing, while some members were also selected to be trained in acting and modeling. Many of the members already had made names for themselves in the Korean entertainment industry through their participation in magazine ads, television commercials, and small television appearances. Before the official release of the group name, Girls’ Generation, it was rumored that the group would be named “Super Girls”. After their label mate Super Junior.
In July 2007 Girls' Generation had their unofficial first stage performance with their single 'Into the New World' on Mnet School of Rock. On August 5, 2007 Girls’ Generation had their official debut stage on SBS Inkigayo with their single debut 'Into the New World'. In November they released their first full album with its second track 'Kissing You' that began promoted in early 2008. In March 2008 the album was repackaged as 'Baby Baby'. Their third single titled 'Baby Baby', was released to promote the album. During the group's promotions, Girls' Generation Jessica, Tiffany and Seohyun were also featured on a mini-album released by Roommate, a one-man band from Purple Communication. On December 1, 2008 their mini album 'Roommate: Emotional Band Aid' was released. The song performed by the three girls, titled 'Oppa Nappa'.
In January 2009, Girls' Generation released their new mini album with single titled 'Gee'. The song began promoted on MBC Music Core. Their song 'Gee' create the popularity of Girls' Generation is increasing and more and more known to people with various awards they won. On May 3, 2009. Girls Generation was starred in their new reality show “SNSD Horror Movie Factory“ and Since June 23, 2009, Girls’ Generation are starring Cable TV program called “SNSD’s Hello Baby” of KBS Joy. On June 22, 2009 Girls' Generation comeback with their new mini album, sporting a "Marine Girl" concept. On June 26, 2009, their began promoted new single 'Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)' on KBS Music Bank.
On January 28, 2010 Girls' Generation released their new mini album with single 'Oh!'. They began promoted this single on MBC Music Core on January 30, 2010. In 2010, Girls' Generation made their debut in Japan. Their Japanese debut single is "Genie" under Universal Music Japan's record label Nayutawave Records for their Japanese promotions. On October 20, 2010, the group released their second Japanese single, "Gee". On October 27, 2010 after debuted in Japan, Girls Generation make their comeback in Korea with their mini album with single 'Hoot'. On October 29, 2010 Girls' Generation commenced their promotional activities with a comeback stage on KBS Music Bank. In February 2011, Chosun Ilbo reported Girls' Generation's members ate only 1,500 kcal a day. This corresponds to a seasonal vegetable, five pieces of broccoli, 100 grams of grilled chicken breast, and 150 grams of brown rice. Several members of the Girls' Generation denied these claims in a interview televised by SBS in November. Girls Generation's manager told, ‘The amount of money SNSD spends on food is much greater than the amount Super Junior spends on their meals.''
On April 27, 2011 Girls Generation released their third Japanese single Mr. Taxi / Run Devil Run which would include their first, original, Japanese song "Mr. Taxi" and the Japanese remake of their song "Run Devil Run". On June 1, 2011, they released their first full-length Japanese studio album, Girls' Generation. Girls' Generation signed a contract with Universal Music Group in 2011 to release United States material under Interscope Records. On October 19, 2011 Girls Generation comeback with their new album and the title track, "The Boys", written by Teddy Riley, famous for his work with Michael Jackson, was released in both Korean and English and eventually Japanese. Their comeback on KBS Music Bank on October 21, 2011.
In 2012, Girls Generation make Girls' Generation sub unit named Girls' Generation-TTS or simply "TaeTiSeo" a subunit composed of leader Taeyeon, Tiffany, and makne Seohyun. on May 2, 2012 the subgroup released their first mini album 'Twinkle'. On June 27, 2012 the song, released and will serve as the lead single from their upcoming second Japanese language album.
