Kim Soo Hyun studied in Chung-Ang University, majoring in Theater and Film Studies. In high school, Soo Hyun began attending to change his reserved personality, but as he diligently memorized scripts and practiced for school plays, Soo Hyun aspiration to truly become an actor grew. In 2003, Soo Hyun appeared in the drama musicals Grease and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

In the 2007, Kim Soo Hyun debuted become actor with his first drama sitcom MBC Kimchi Cheese Smile. In 2011, Kim Soo Hyun name widely known after playing the character of song sam dong in television drama 'Dream High'. Song Sam Dong lives in the country side and dreams of becoming an owner of a stock farm. Sam Dong is a country bumpkin who turns out to be a musical genius. He falls in love with Go Hye Mi character played by Miss A Suzy at first sight and follows her to Kirin High School of Art.

In Dream High, Kim Soo Hyun played with Miss A Suzy, 2PM Taecyeon, 2PM Wooyoung, Singer IU, and T-ara Eun Jung. He the only young actor in the main cast with no singing and dancing experience, Soo Hyun studied song and dance for three months at JYP Entertainment so he could pull off the required scenes in the drama. Kim Soo Hyun released his OST for KBS's Dream High 'Dreaming' he sing solo and drama soundtrack 'Dream High (드림하이)' feat Miss A Suzy, 2PM Taecyeon, 2PM Wooyoung, and singer Joo. His drama was a huge success so there will be a second part to the drama and it will be called Dream High 2. Soo Hyun played character Song Sam Dong as Cameo and compete acting with T-ara Jiyeon.

Kim Soo Hyun name of the meteoric rise since starring in the television drama 'The Moon that Embraces the Sun'. In The Moon that Embraces the Sun, Soo Hyun played character Lee Hwon. He played this drama with Korean Actor Jung Il Woo and Korean Actress Han Ga In.  He released his OST for his drama 'Only You'.
