Wonder Girls is South Korean girl group that making waves across the globe. The meaning behind the group's name 'Wonder Girls' are 'the girls who can amaze the world'. Wonder Girls is girl group from JYP Entertainment, one of the largest entertainment companies in Asia. They are co-managed in the United States by JYP Entertainment and Creative Artists Agency. Wonder Girls have official fanclub with the name of "Wonderful". Wonder Girls members consisting of leader Sunye, Yubin, Yeeun, Sohee, and maknae Hyelim. Former member Kim Hyuna left in 2007 due to health problems after 2 years she is now back with a new group called 4Minute while Sunmi left the Wonder Girls at end February 2010 to further her studies and Hye Rim was recruited to fill her spot. According to JYP, Sunmi is welcome to comeback with the Wonder Girls and form a 6 member group if she wishes to. Sunmi is currently pursuing her studies in Korea.
Before debut, Wonder Girls five original members were showcased in a program 'MTV Wonder Girls'. On July 1, 2001 each were selected through auditions called the “Talent & Live Voice Project 99% Competition” in order to find talented young females that would be trained for his planned idea to create his first girl group and went through a trainee process for several years, while Yeeun was chosen shortly prior to debut. On February 10, 2007, Wonder Girls made their officially debuted with their single debut 'Irony' on MBC's Show! Music Core. In the end 2007, members of the Wonder Girls were beset by various injuries and health problems. On June 25, So Hee tore a knee ligament due to falling off of a motorcycle while filming 'I Like It Hot', she was precluded from group activities for one month. In late July, Hyuna was withdrawn from the group by her parents due to their concern over her problems with chronic gastroenteritis and fainting spells and in the autumn of 2007 Yubin replace Hyuna place. She made her debut three days later in the group's live performance of "Tell Me" on Music Bank.
In September, the new team released their first full album The Wonder Years its main track Tell Me was a huge hit, and their popularity soared. Due to the last minute addition of Yubin, the album version does not contain her part. However, the performance version of the song was reworked to include a bridge with rapping by Yubin. On September 14, 2007 Wonder Girls were involved in a car accident. Their van rear ended a taxi on their way back from a performance at Dong eui University, and the accident resulted in the death of the taxi driver and minor injuries to the group. Due to the tragic outcome and emotional trauma the group experienced, "Tell Me" promotional activity was temporarily suspended for two weeks.
In May 22, 2008 , Wonder Girls released single So Hot a decent hit, followed by Nobody a few months later which was one of the most popular songs of the year. Due to a vocal cord injury, Yubin temporarily lip-synched her parts under doctor's orders. The Wonder Girls tour started on February 28, 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Wonder Girls, along with mentor JYP, then held concerts in the United States. In June 2009, Wonder Girls joined with American pop group Jonas Brothers for Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 as their concerts's opening act. JYP Entertainment announced that "Nobody" would be the first English single, followed by "Tell Me", and that an English album would be forthcoming. It was later revealed that in order to concentrate on their American debut, both Sohee and Sunmi dropped out of high school.
On May 15, 2010 Wonder Girls released their new mini album titled 2 Different Tears, the title track was recorded in three different languages, Chinese, Korean and English. On November 7, 2011 Wonder Girls comeback with their new album titled Wonder World, their new album composing of 12 new songs with an exception of one being a remix. The song G.N.O in this album was composed and written by member Yeeun. On November 11, 2011 their comeback stage on KBS Music Bank. On July 10, 2012 Wonder Girls released their new digital single "Like Money" featuring American Singer Akon.
