Choi Soo Young (최수영) or her stage name Sooyoung is member of South Korea girl group Girls' Generation or in Korean name SNSDIn Girls' Generation, Sooyoung is the tallest and one of the thinnest members. In 2000, Sooyoung was discovered on SM Casting System via the 2000 SM Open Audition. In 2002, she won 2002 Korea-Japan Ultra Idol Duo Audition she won first place. In the same year, Sooyoung debut into the Japanese music scene with Malina Takahashi as a member of the duo Route 0. The duo released several single but it was later disbanded in 2003. In summer of 2003, Sooyoung also started her career in Korea. In 2004, she was an endorser for a school uniform model along with Korean actor Jang Geun SeokIn 2005, she made a song titled "I Am" for the Korean version of an anime titled Inuyasha.


In 2007, Sooyoung put into group Girls' Generation or SNSDIn July 2007 Girls' Generation had their unofficial first stage performance with their single 'Into the New World' on Mnet School of Rock. OAugust 5, 2007 Girls’ Generation had their official debut stage on SBS Inkigayo with their single debut 'Into the New World'. In 2007, Sooyoung debut in acting on 'KBS 2TV sitcom Unstoppable Marriage ' with her band mate YuriIn 2008, Sooyoung and Yuri sang the trot song "Kkok" for the opening theme of the SBS TV miniseries Working Mom. After that, Sooyoung participated in several television drama as a cameo.


Before debut as a member of Girls' Generation, Sooyoung was a VJ of the 2005 M.net Hello Chat, alongside Super Junior's Kangin. From July 2007 to January 2008, Sooyoung become radio DJ with Super Junior's Sungmin on DMB ChunBangJiChuk Radio. On August 20, 2011 she was a MC for K-Pop All Star Live in Niigata together with her band mate Yuri & Tiffany. In 2011, Sooyoung wrote lyrics "How Great Is Your Love" for Girls' Generation's Korean third album, The Boys. 


On August 28, 2011, Sooyoung and her sister were involved in a car crash on the way to participate in a charity event. According to local media, Sooyoung carrying vehicles hit by a car from the opposite lane. The accident was caused by a careless car driver. As a result of the accident, Sooyoung was diagnosed with a broken spine. The doctor asked Sooyoung suspend all activities in order to rest longer and focus on recovery. Because of this, she was unable to participate in 'SMTOWN LIVE in TOKYO SPECIAL EDITION' and Girls' Generation's concert in Taiwan. During this time, she made a video, thanking her fans for their concern and assuring them she was doing her best to recover. On September 27, 2011, Sooyoung rejoined Girls' Generations in their activities after she recovered.
